MAGGIE LORE PROCTOR MOODY

11/10/1919 - 2/4/2012

(Mrs. Moody, Aunt Maggie, to me, was the ex-wife of Russell Herzion (Perzion) Moody, my uncle of through my grandfather, Thomas Albert Moody.

*Mrs. Moody's memorial card and her obituary showed her name to be Maggie Deaton Moody however I can not locate any documantation that would explain the name Deaton being associated with her. I will clarify the "descrepancy" when I learn the association.)

Maggie Deaton Moody*, age 92, of Nebo, passed away Saturday, February 4,2012 at her residence with her loving family by her side. A native of McDowellCounty, Maggie was born November 10, 1919 and was the daughter of the lateMary Lee Proctor. In addition to her mother, she is also preceded in death byher husband, Russell Moody; three children, Clifford, Sammy and Joyce AnnMoody; one grandson, Greg Moody and two great grandchildren, TerevaSuttles and Scott Edwards. She is survived by seven children, Ronald Moody,Timmy Moody, Lora Suttles, Judy Shelton and her husband, David, WandaBillings, Patricia Mace and Lesa Moody and her husband, Terry; thirteengrandchildren; twenty nine great grandchildren and four great-greatgrandchildren. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home with Revs. RayStockton, Justin Deaton and Brian Bird officiating. Burial will follow atBallew Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00p.m., two hours prior to the service, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers,memorials may be made to, Hospice of McDowell County, 575 Airport Road,Marion, NC 28752. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to SheliaMcPeters, who was a special nurse and to Dr. St. Bernard for their care andcompassion shown to Maggie.

HILDE CACILIA NOFLANER/NOFLANDER ECKARD

7/24/1930 - 4/16/2012

Mrs. Eckard was my sister-in-law, married to my brother Carroll Franklin Eckard.


Hilde Cacilia Eckard, age 81, of Nebo, passed away Monday, April 16, 2012 at St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospital. Mrs. Eckard was born in Brixen, Italy on July 24, 1930 to the late Aloys and Maria Noflaner. She was a homemaker and a devout Catholic. 

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Carroll F. Eckard of the home; three sisters who reside in Switzerland; one brother who resides in Austria; one God daughter, Stephanie Purvis and a special friend, her miniature poodle, “Stephanie”.


A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home with Father Carl E. Kaltreider officiating. Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., one hour prior to the service, at Westmoreland Funeral Home.
